We love looking after our chickens Gemma and Craig who live in the garden next to year 6. On Friday we gave their coop a big tidy during Big Dig Day. They seem really happy to be in their newly tidied home – almost as we all were with our lollies (especially a certain teacher).
Today we are finding out about the 1970′s!
CHALLENGE QUESTIONS!
1. What is a punk rocker? Draw one on your poster!
2. Find two different clothing fashions from the 70′s. Draw and label them on your poster!
3. Who was Margaret Thatcher? What was she Britain’s first? Write down two bullet points about Margaret Thatcher on your poster and draw a sketch portrait of her.
4. Nottingham Forest Football Club won the European Cup (now called the Champions League) two seasons in a row in the 1970′s. Using Google find their logo and add it to your poster. BONUS: Can you find out which two seasons Forest won the European Cup?
5. Space Invaders was a popular computer game in the 1970′s. Find out how you would play Space Invaders and write down two bullet points about it. Draw a ‘screen shot’ from the game on your poster.

This week in year 6 we are focusing on the different decades since Queen Elizabeth II became Queen of the United Kingdom and since our school opened in 1952. First of all, we are focusing on the 1950′s.

Our topic this term is the Royal Family, to coincide with Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee. This week we are writing a biography (life story) of one of the most famous members of the Royal Family from recent times – Princess Diana.

On Friday year 6 are having their own Greek party to celebrate what has been a fantastic topic for us this half term. They are going to use Google Docs to create their own shared quiz for parents and carers who visit us this afternoon. The link to the quiz is:
