Edinburgh

Last Thursday we had an amazing adventure in the capital city of Scotland – Edinburgh. We left Newcastle early in the morning at the early time of 7:00am! We travelled on a train  to Edinburgh it took 1 hour and 40 minutes. When we arrived we visited Edinburgh Castle. We made friends with some American tourists! At 1pm we watched the castle cannon get fired.

After our visit to the castle we walked down the Royal Mile and spent some time in the shops. We spent our money on some unusual things including a Loch Ness monster hat and some Edinburgh Rock! Later on we had a lovely Pizza Hut buffet – we ate loads of Pizza between us!

Finally it was time to head back to Newcastle on the train but there was a problem! A huge storm had caused a landslide on to the train track. We had no other way of getting home and we thought we might have to stay the night in Edinburgh (which would have been fun!). A kind police man sorted a coach out for us and we travelled back by road – it took nearly 3 hours because of the weather.

We had a great day! What an adventure!

    Hello Hilton Primary School,
it sounds like you had a brilliant time on your trip to Edinburgh! I bet I would have loved it if our class went there. I like you hats Jason and Kieran, I think they are really good. Also, about taking 3 hours to get home on the coach because of the weather. I would have been really anoyyed if it was me, because I don’t like traveling on long journeies.
I hope you had a wonderful time at Edinburgh!

    Hi Hilton Primary,
It looks like you enjoyed going down to scotland on the train. In the 6 weeks holidays I am going to scotland with my family. I love it. I bet the pizza hut buffet was delious I love pizza. So I bet it was tragic when the train stopped you going back home and you had to go back on a coach.
I bet you had a good time.

Hiya Hilton Primary, it sounds like you had a brilliant time! I have been to Edinbrugh before and it was marvellous. You must have had a brilliant time! You set off quite early didn’t you. But I usually wake up at half 6 to let my dog outside. Because he cries at the bottom of the stairs. There’s some brilliant pictures. I like your hats Jason and Kiera.

This looks and sounds like a fantastic trip. We don’t have castles in Australia. You are very lucky to have so much ancient history at your doorstep and a day trip to Scotland sounds incredible.
If we drove for 3 hours we would still be in our state of Victoria. We need a plane or a ship to travel to a different country.
What was something new that you learnt while in Edinburgh?
